Bicycle Diet|About Body Fat Percentage and BMI

Health

Everyone has their own reasons for starting to ride a road bike or a hybrid bike.

I’m sure there are many reasons, such as “because it was cool” or “because it’s trendy.”

For example, I am sure that there are many people like me who become interested in and enthusiastic about sports bicycles for the purpose of losing weight and getting exercise.

I think road bikes and hybrid bikes are a great way to enjoy physical activity, and I personally believe that bicycles are the best way to solve the problems of inactivity and weight loss all at once.

When it comes to dieting, “weight” is the most important factor, but some people are full of fat while others are muscul

If only weight is used as an indicator, the evaluation will be the same even though the substance is completely different.

Therefore, body fat percentage and BMI are the numbers that often come up as indicators of a healthy body and are used to correctly judge one’s physical condition.

Professional cyclists and general body fat percentage

It is well known that professional athletes running in the Tour de France consume 7,000 calories per day.

Because they burn so many calories, no matter how much they eat, they do not gain weight, and the athletes have very lean bodies.

Conversely, the stamina required to continue running while burning this many calories is astounding, and a world-class professional cyclist is on a different level than the average person.

Since they are such, it is normal for their body fat percentage to be below 10%.

Among professional athletes, professional cyclists seem to have a particularly low body fat percentage.

There are several people around me who have a body fat percentage of less than 10%.

They all have no lean body mass.

In fact, their bodies are so lean and toned that it seems as if they do not even have the fat they need.

Incidentally, for Lohman(1986), which is often used to determine obesity, the standard adiposity values seem to be 10.0% to 19.9% for adult males and 20.0% to 29.9% for females.

For the average person, less than 10% is indeed an impossible number to achieve, so those who are planning to lose weight by bicycle should first try to achieve a number in this range.

Estimated Body Fat Percentage

● Adult Male 10.0%-19.9% ● adult woman 20.0%~29.9%

Health Checkups and Diet

Diet to be aware of as the date of the health checkup approaches.

Even those who are indifferent to the state of their bodies on a daily basis may be concerned about their weight, fat percentage, and other figures during the time of health checkups.

When I was young, I was so healthy that I used to look forward to my health checkups, but after I turned 35, I started to feel a little less healthy.

Now, due to my age of 40, some of my test results are other than good.

That is why I increase my exercise and adjust to my best weight when it is time for my checkups.

I ride a bicycle to get my daily exercise and lose weight.

During the medical interview, I said, “Exercise? It’s perfect! Because I ride my bike every day!”

However…things are a little different this year. Tomorrow is my physical checkup, and I have not lost any weight at all.

I gained weight every day I kept eating.

In fact, I ate much more this year than I usually do in a typical year.

The reason is that I ate the leftovers of my children.

Eating children’s leftovers and gaining weight is one of the most common causes of weight gain among mothers in the world.

In my family’s case, I always eat too much.

Frequently, despite being satisfied with my own food, I find myself eating the children’s leftovers and feeling agonizingly full.

I wish I didn’t eat it, but it is in my nature to feel that it is ” wasteful,” so I can’t help it. Since last fall, I have been in a state of chronic overeating.

If a person repeatedly eats in a way that makes him or her painfully full, his or her stomach will grow larger and larger, and the amount of food he or she normally eats will also increase.

Because of this, I am in a bit of a bad situation: I eat and eat, but I don’t eat enough, and if I don’t eat something, I miss my mouth.

I thought, “Oh no, if I don’t do this, I will become fat,” but I was unable to break out of this vicious cycle, and it just kept getting worse and worse.

My weight approaching record maximum

My weight approaching record maximum

So, before my physical checkup, I became more conscious of my weight and was surprised when I got on the scale!

weigh 74.9 kg for my height of 175 cm.

I am not the fattest I have ever been, but I am close to it.

I weighed about 69 kg because I had been living on a diet until about the fall, which means that I gained almost 6 kg in about 9 months.

It is shocking to think that 6 kg is “the equivalent of one high-end road bike with a carbon frame.

Other Indicators

Other indicators were also deteriorating across the board, so I am posting them here as a note.

Below are the results of indicators of physical condition that can be measured by Omron’s scales.

body fat percentage

body fat percentage

The weight of fat as a percentage of total weight.

28.3…

I can’t help but look twice.

It was not that low to begin with, around 22-24, but I have never seen such numbers before.

A body fat percentage of 29% is the same level as the average adult woman.

About 1/3 of my body is fat.

BMI

BMI

BMI stands for Body Mass Index and is an international standard for determining obesity.

BMI is 29.3 (target: 22)

Internal Fat Level

Internal Fat Level

The level of fat around the internal organs, also known as the source of metabolic syndrome.

Internal fat fat level is 14 (target: 9)

It may be this number that we need to be most concerned about.
It is also a number that has

Skeletal Muscle Ratio

Skeletal Muscle Ratio

It is the amount of muscle mass, and the more muscle you have, the better your metabolism and the less likely you are to gain weight, and since you have more strength, you can be more active and even more difficult to gain weight.

Skeletal muscle percentage is 32.7% (target: 36%)

After skipping muscle training for a while, I seem to have become completely flaccid.

It wasn’t like that when I was younger, but I feel that my muscle strength obviously deteriorates faster as I age.

basal metabolism

basal metabolism

Amount of energy consumed just by being alive

Basal metabolism is 1671 kcal.

A high basal metabolism seems to make it difficult to gain weight, and this number is higher than average.

physical age

physical age

Body age calculated based on basal metabolism, Omron’s original index.

Body age is 45 (actual age: 41)

They make a comprehensive judgment based on the measured body composition data.

If you ride a bike consistently, you will always lose weight.

If you ride a bike consistently, you will lose weight.

I can assure you that this has already happened to me many times in the past.

So I will try to lose the fat that has been attached to me by riding my bike properly.

Go for it, me!
I’m going to do my best!
